2026 03/05

Recently, the Ministry of Commerce of China issued the final ruling in the anti-dumping case concerning imports of rapeseed oil from Canada. The final duty rate has been drastically reduced from the preliminary duty rate of 75.8% to 5.9%.

Gao Peng Law Firm acted for a major Canadian trader and participated in the entire legal proceedings of the case. The team includes Senior Partners Wang Lei and Jiang Liyong, and Lawyers Yao Mingyue and Qin Yi from the International Trade Practice Group.

Against the backdrop of China-Canada trade frictions in 2024, the Ministry of Commerce of China initiated an anti-dumping investigation into Canadian rapeseed oil in September 2024 and imposed a preliminary anti-dumping duty of 75.8%. Following the signing of the China-Canada Economic and Trade Cooperation Roadmap in January 2026, the final duty rate was ultimately lowered to 5.9%.

On behalf of the client, the Gao Peng team overcame objective difficulties such as time differences within an extremely tight schedule, submitted a complete trader questionnaire response, fully cooperated with the investigation, and participated in two meetings with the Bureau of Trade Remedy of the Ministry of Commerce. The team witnessed the whole thrilling and twist‑turning process and provided professional international trade legal services for the client. Gao Peng extends congratulations to the client on achieving a substantially reduced final duty rate.

With this successful case, following previous victories in anti-dumping investigations involving white-feathered broilers, stainless steel billets and hot-rolled products, phenylacetic acid, phenol, and dried distillers’ grains with solubles (DDGS), Gao Peng Law Firm has added another successful example in representing foreign exporters in responding to anti-dumping cases, further consolidating its professional strength and service capabilities in the field of international trade remedy.
