2025 03/24

On March 20, 2025, Dr. Wu Xiaohui, Senior Partner of Gaopeng Law Firm, organized a special lecture on "Analysis and Application of Criminal Evidence from a Multidimensional Perspective", and invited Mr. Chen Douxiang, former Deputy Director of Chaoyang Public Security Bureau in Liaoning Province, and Professor Cao Yanqiong from Shanxi University Law School as guests to share practical experience and theoretical research on "Analysis and Application of Criminal Evidence" from classic case analysis, "Research on Evidence Law Culture in the Book of Changes", and "Criminal Evidence from a Semiotics Perspective".

Mr. Chen Douxiang

Mr. Chen Douxiang applied professional thinking to deeply analyze the use of criminal evidence in multiple typical cases such as the Hongshan case. From the perspective of investigative practice, he revealed the key points and difficulties of evidence collection, fixation, and analysis, as well as how to use historical, folk, and psychological knowledge to search for evidence, handle difficult problems, and restore the truth in complex and changing cases. This provided valuable experience and reference for attending lawyers.

Professor Cao Yanqiong

Professor Cao Yanqiong combines the Book of Changes with criminal psychology to explore its inspiration for modern criminal evidence theory and practice. She also shares the manifestations of the Book of Changes in work, life, and legal services, especially for high-intensity and high-pressure defense work. She guides attending lawyers on how to use the wisdom of the Book of Changes to adapt to the situation and adjust their own state in a timely manner.

Lawyer Wu Xiaohui

Based on her postdoctoral research, Lawyer Wu Xiaohui introduced the semiotic theoretical framework of American philosopher Pierce in her lecture. Combining the triadic construction of symbols, the transformation of evidence and symbols, and the reasoning methods in critical logic, she interpreted the construction, meaning, and application patterns of criminal evidence from a semiotic perspective. Using Western legal philosophy, she explored how to more accurately grasp the essence of criminal evidence from a semiotic perspective, providing a new approach and method for criminal defense lawyers to analyze and apply criminal evidence.

Event site
