On May 28, 2020, the Third Session of the 13th National People's Congress voted to adopt the Civil Code of the People's Republic of China, which officially introduced the first codified law in the history of New China. This law will enter into force as of January 1, 2021.

Known as the “encyclopedia of social life”, the Civil Code touches upon everybody’s life in all aspects. Director Chenglu DIAO, Lawyers Yin DONG, Xuefeng HAN and Yufeng HU of Beijing Gaopeng & Partners Law Firm Yangzhou Office (Gaopeng & Partners Yangzhou Office) carried out the law dissemination program of “Making Civil Code Available to Villages (Communities)” on the streets of Gaoyou with straightaway and popular means on June 14. This program is designed to widely publicize the Civil Code of the People’s Republic of China, guide the residents to comprehensively and thoroughly learn the spiritual substance of the Civil Code and improve legal accomplishment, and form a sound social atmosphere of law abidance, application and protection.

During the proceedings of the program, lawyers of Gaopeng & Partners and volunteers disseminated the General Provisions of the Civil Law, the Law on the Protection of Minors, the People’s Mediation Law, the Legal Aid Law and other relevant laws and regulations to the public by issuing brochures and other forms while explaining articles to them and answering their questions.


This law dissemination and publicity program has effectively created an atmosphere of legal culture, gained favorable publicity and learning effects, effectively enhanced the legal consciousness and self-protection awareness of the public, and carried forward the spirit of socialist rule of law.
